Meet Amit Agrawal, who is currently working as an Engagement Director for KPMG Singapore. In his career he has assisted in providing solutions to some of the biggest banks like Citi, Standard Chartered Bank and Deutsche Bank. Amit is also our valued alumnus who successfully graduated from the AI in Finance specialisation in 2018. CFTE had the pleasure to interview Amit to learn about his strategy to keep pace with a digitally transforming finance world.
Amit Agrawal is currently working as an Engagement Director for KPMG Singapore and helps clients in achieving their business automation goals. He has had a vast expanse of experience across banking and finance during the 22 years he has dedicated to the financial services industry.
He has held several corporate positions for banks like Citi, as well as consulting firms like EY, KPMG, BearingPoint, and technology companies like NTT Data. His contribution to the sector has been invaluable, with his career focused on providing specialist solutions to tier 1 banks like Citi, Standard Chartered Bank and Deutsche Bank. He has also worked across verticals within the finance function like operations, risk, technology, gaining knowledge and expertise in finance at the core.
Having worked with over 20 leading Financial Services clients including digital banks, traditional banks and insurance, Amit Agrawal has felt the tides of change from within. He has worked on projects spanning across domains like Data Driven Transformation (DDT) and Regulatory Driven Transformation (RDT) like change management, process optimisation, finance transformation that have brought to light several new developments in the realm of financial technology. Amit believes the world is seeing more disruption and volatility now, as compared to a decade ago, and this requires solutions to be more tech enabled. He adds that, to transform, clients are leveraging new and emerging technologies like cloud computing, analytics, AI and adapting to change with new ways of working. In this dynamic, shape-shifting environment it is quintessential to continually align one’s skills to the new reality.

Amit has always been interested in exploring technological advancements in the financial realm and is intrigued by how tech can disrupt finance as we know it. The understanding that AI, cloud computing, analytics and other technologies are the prime ingredients to accelerate digital transformation in finance is one that Amit shares with other disruptors in the industry. He says, AI especially, is remodelling business and the operational model of finance, and that is what set him on a journey to accelerate his career development by exploring the new possibilities that AI can surface in Finance.
