Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Rohit Dhawan as the first group director of AI and analytics, who led AWS (Amazon Web Services) data and AI strategy in the Asia-Pacific region for nearly four years.
Rohit Dhawan will be reporting to Ranil Boteju, the Group’s Chief Data and Analytics Officer and lead the Group’s AI Centre of Excellence, bringing together experts in Data Science, Behavioral Science, ML Engineering, Advanced Analytics and AI Ethics.
Lloyds with over 50 use cases for AI across its functions including quality of chatbot tools and fraud detection for cyber resilience. So far in 2024, the bank has recruited a total of 1,500 technology and data specialists summarising to more than 4,000 over the past two years, showcasing their commitment in revolutionising financial services with AI technology.
This initiative can be seen in other financial services, for example, Morgan Stanley in March 2024, recently appointed Jeff McMillan as its first Head of AI, to help coordinate the firm’s AI strategy, aiming to transform the future of digital finance.
