CFTE Introduces Senior Leadership Alignment Programme for Financial Institutions and Central Banks

CFTE today announced the launch of its Senior Leadership Alignment Programme for financial institutions and central banks. The programme is designed to help senior leadership teams translate AI ambition into clear strategic decisions, aligned priorities, and effective execution.

The programme responds to a growing need among institutions that have moved beyond AI awareness and experimentation, but now face more complex questions around business direction, operating models, governance, risk, capability-building, and execution.

The timing reflects a major shift in the AI landscape. The first wave of AI focused on backend capabilities such as classification and prediction. The second wave, driven by generative AI, brought content creation and automation to the forefront of professional work. The third wave, now emerging, is defined by agentic AI – systems that can execute tasks autonomously across workflows and systems.

This shift has fundamentally changed the leadership challenge. Many organisations are still making decisions based on second-wave assumptions, while the third wave is reshaping competitive dynamics.

Across financial services, organisations have invested heavily in AI tools, pilots, and training programmes. However, only a small proportion are achieving meaningful impact at scale. The constraint is no longer access to technology, but the ability of leadership teams to align on direction, priorities, and execution.

The Senior Leadership Alignment Programme is designed to address this gap. It is not technical training or tool demonstration. It is a structured environment for leadership teams to build shared understanding and align on critical decisions.

The programme is built around four pillars:

Expert-led insight to establish a shared strategic understanding of AI
Use-case intelligence to highlight real-world applications and emerging patterns
Framework-driven thinking to structure decisions and trade-offs
Outcome-driven alignment to translate discussion into clear priorities and next steps

By the end of the programme, participants will have a shared understanding of AI implications for their organisation, alignment on key strategic priorities, and a clearer basis for decision-making and execution.

Future Skills Forum (FSF), Singapore — 26th February 2026

The Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) and Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly accelerate talent development, AI readiness, and innovation capabilities across Singapore and global financial ecosystems. The MOU was signed at the Future Skills Forum which took place on 11 November 2025.

The MoU addresses a growing challenge faced by organisations worldwide: technology is advancing faster than they can upskill their workforce. While experimentation with generative AI and automation increases, capability building remains uneven across departments and industries.

The strategic partnership between CFTE and the SFA is essentially a talent-and-ecosystem alliance: SFA brings national fintech convening power in Singapore, and CFTE brings global education, research, and workforce transformation capability. The collaboration aims to position Singapore as a global AI-finance talent hub.

A Global Bridge for Talent and Innovation

Singapore is home to more than 1,500 fintech firms and is one of the most dynamic AI innovation environments in the world. Through this collaboration, SFA and CFTE aim to establish a global talent bridge connecting Singapore’s fintech talent with CFTE’s global learning hubs in London, Paris, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and multiple markets across Asia and MENA.

Focus Areas of Collaboration

Under the MoU, CFTE and SFA will explore collaboration across several priority initiatives:

Position Singapore as a Leading Hub for AI-Ready Finance Talent

The organisations will support efforts to strengthen Singapore’s position as a global hub for AI-ready finance talent. This includes helping financial institutions and professionals build practical AI capabilities—grounded in real operational needs and responsible adoption. The goal is to ensure the workforce is equipped not only with tools, but with the skills and judgement required to deploy AI effectively across financial services.

Develop a Connected, Cross-Border Finance Talent Ecosystem

Recognising that talent and innovation function increasingly across borders, the partnership will explore ways to connect stakeholders across markets. This may include shared programmes, community-led learning initiatives, and knowledge exchange between institutions, policymakers, and ecosystem partners. By strengthening links across regions, the collaboration aims to accelerate capability building and scale proven approaches to AI readiness.

Strengthen Founder and Startup Capability in the AI Era

To support entrepreneurship and innovation, the organisations will also explore initiatives aimed at founders and early-stage teams building in the AI era. This focus area is designed to help startups develop practical AI understanding, go-to-market readiness, and responsible deployment practices—especially in regulated financial contexts. The objective is to enable founders to develop credible, scalable solutions that meet real market needs.

Dubai, 16 July 2025 -The Innovation Hub of the Emirates Institute of Finance (EIF) and the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the strategic collaboration in innovation, future foresight, and national talent development. The partnership supports the UAE’s strategic direction toward building a knowledge-based digital economy.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by H.E. Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EIF. The MoU was signed by H.E. Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor of Banking Operations and Support Services at CBUAE and Vice Chairman of EIF, and Huy Nguyen Trieu, Co-founder of CFTE, during a ceremony held at the EIF Innovation Hub in Dubai.

As part of the MoU, two parties will collaborate to co-develop high-impact programmes aimed at empowering national talent with future-ready skills, promoting entrepreneurship in financial innovation, and enhancing the financial sector’s readiness for digital transformation. These efforts align with the UAE’s priorities to advance Emiratisation and develop the digital capabilities of the national cadre to meet the needs of the next phase. Furthermore, both parties will also explore opportunities to co-host workshops, seminars, and advanced educational initiatives. What Does It Take to Be AI-Ready? Bahrain’s Financial Leaders Just Found Out

In today’s rapidly shifting world of work, a simple but urgent question is rising to the surface:

What does it really mean to be AI-ready — and who’s leading the way?

This was the core focus of an executive session hosted by CFTE in collaboration with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). Held behind closed doors in the heart of Manama, the gathering brought together 50+ senior leaders from Bahrain’s financial ecosystem for a bold, honest discussion on AI transformation, not as a technology trend, but as a leadership imperative.

Rather than offering a checklist of tools, the session explored something deeper: what it takes for organisations to rewire how they think about talent, performance, and long-term resilience in an AI-powered economy.

From Tools to Talent: Rethinking the AI Conversation

The session was led by Huy Nguyen Trieu, CFTE co-founder and author of The Great Transition: The Future of Work in the Age of AI. His message was clear:

“The biggest shift AI creates isn’t technical. It’s human. It challenges how we define performance, contribution, and adaptability.”

Instead of asking how many people are trained on AI tools, organisations must ask a tougher question: Are our people ready to think differently?

The Performance Hexagon: A New Lens on Value

To help answer that, leaders were introduced to a new talent framework — the Performance Integral. It categorises talent not by job title, but by how individuals create value:

Task Robots – high executors, low autonomy
Problem Solvers – adaptable, independent thinkers
System Thinkers – cross-functional, collaborative minds
Superstars – those who define new problems entirely

Each of these roles has value. But in a world shaped by AI, not all are equally future-proof.

The real question for institutions is this: Are we building teams optimised for efficiency — or for adaptability and creative thinking?

Understanding AI’s True Impact: The CDE Innovation Prism

Next came the CDE Innovation Prism, a strategic model for understanding how AI is transforming jobs and systems:

Cheaper / better/ faster – Automating routine tasks
Different – Creating new capabilities and business models
Enhancing – Amplifying human creativity and decision-making

Most organisations are experiencing all three patterns at once. The key is knowing where your workforce sits on this spectrum — and what that means for future roles.

The takeaway? AI readiness isn’t a single metric. It’s a multi-dimensional map. And forward-looking leaders need to understand where they -and their people- stand today.

Beyond Upskilling: This Is a Cultural Shift

While many conversations around AI readiness focus on upskilling, the Bahrain session surfaced a more profound insight:

It’s not just about learning new tools. It’s about learning to lead in complexity.

What We Learned from Regulators at the Arab Monetary Fund’s Fintech Working Group: AI Readiness in the Policy Room

In May 2025, CFTE had the privilege of co-hosting a strategic session on AI and financial systems during the Annual Meeting of the Arab Monetary Fund’s Fintech Working Group.

This wasn’t just another AI panel.

It was a rare opportunity to step into a conversation with the region’s regulators, central banks, and policy designers — the very people shaping the rules of tomorrow’s financial infrastructure.

Rather than showcasing tools or predicting distant futures, we focused on what matters most today:

How do institutions build real AI readiness when transformation is already underway?

From Innovation Buzzwords to Institutional Blueprints

Too often, AI is discussed in technical silos or executive summaries. This session brought it into the space where it matters most: regulatory strategy and national capacity building.

Here’s why it stood out:

A shift from features to frameworks

We moved beyond tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to ask bigger questions:

How do supervisors stay relevant when business models evolve overnight?
What defines “AI literacy” at the institutional level?
How do central banks upskill their talent to regulate what they don’t build?

A focus on capability, not just compliance

The discussion wasn’t reactive. It was design-oriented. We weren’t just warning about risks — we were co-creating models for readiness.

Direct engagement with regional decision-makers

This was not a tech showcase. It was a working session with those leading financial innovation, stability, and talent development across the Arab region.

What Emerged: Three Core Insights for AI-Ready Institutions

1. AI Readiness is More Than Tool Familiarity

Many institutions are investing in AI technologies. Fewer are investing in the human and strategic capabilities to use them responsibly.

AI-readiness, as discussed by the Fintech Working Group, must be built around:

– Strategic understanding, not just awareness

– Ethical fluency and governance competence

– Systemic thinking across departments and use cases

Readiness, in this context, means being able to ask the right questions and design the right guardrails, not just operate the tools.

2. Talent Will Be Amplified — Not Replaced

We introduced CFTE’s Performance Hexagon, which resonated deeply:

– Task Robots: Routine automation

– Problem Solvers: Adaptable talent

– Superstars: Innovators and catalysts

– Supercharged Professionals: Leaders who use AI to multiply their impact

The insight was clear:

AI widens the gap between low and high performance — it doesn’t eliminate people, it **elevates potential** where readiness exists.

3. Capability Maturity Must Be Structured

We outlined a practical 3-stage model for AI workforce development:

1. Literacy: Understand foundational AI principles

2. Tool Proficiency: Apply tools effectively

3. Strategic Application: Design workflows, teams, and governance aligned with AI’s impact

The group consensus? AI-readiness isn’t a workshop — it’s a journey. And that journey must be guided by policy-aligned, institution-specific frameworks.

What Regulators Are Asking — And Why It Signals Readiness

During the session, several pressing questions emerged:

– How can we regulate models we don’t fully understand?

– How do we prepare our supervisors for exponential innovation cycles?

– Can AI be a force for financial inclusion, rather than complexity?

These are the kinds of questions that define real institutional maturity.

They don’t signal hesitation. They signal leadership.

The Arab Monetary Fund’s Fintech Working Group is more than a forum — it’s a regional engine for innovation, resilience, and regulatory alignment.

Bermuda Becomes World’s First Government to Adopt CFTE’s AI Supercharged Academy
