Singapore, 2 of November – Announced by the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE), the Central Bank Digital Currencies Programme led by Dr. Oriol Caudevilla, will be released amid an ever-increasing numbers of CBDCs projects launched by Central Banks all over the world.
According to a report published by the Bank of International Settlements (BIS) in early 2020, 80% of Central Banks in the world are currently working on CBDCs.
“We are considering a central bank digital currency (CBDC) because the way people are choosing to pay for things is changing. Financial technology (fintech) firms have started to offer new forms of money and new ways to pay. People are using cash less.”
Bank of England.
“A Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) is a new form of Central Bank money accessible to the general public, accepted as a means of payment, legal tender, safe store of value by all citizens, businesses and government agencies.”
Dr. Oriol Caudevilla, Board Director of GIFT.
The educational gap, the skills needed, and the knowledge required in digital payments is tremendous. This is where CFTE comes in. CFTE mission is to provide quality education at scale so that professionals can have the skills and opportunities to get into the new era of finance. CFTE believes that launching this live programme is a remarkable way to unlock the potential of the professionals working in central banks who are lacking either skills or knowledge.
“I am really pleased to see the programme on CBDCs from the perspective of senior leaders and bringing many use cases from many central banks around the world to our industry as It is our purpose at the CFTE to help professionals to learn about these new concepts of CBDCs. We’re thrilled Dr Oriol Caudevilla will be teaching on this topic”
