London 9th June 2022 – CFTE has announced the release of its Fintech Product Manager course, the first ever of its kind. With the aim of tackling the lack of education for this complex role, this programme will be taught by Amazon’s Senior Product Manager Rahul Dua. Amidst the huge demand for the role, through this unique and experiential programme, participants will develop the skills, mindset, and network to succeed in Fintech and modern finance.

Whether in Fintech, tech companies or modern banks, Product Manager is one of the most important roles of fast growing organisations, with some even calling it the “mini-CEO”. Google’s CEO, Youtube’s CEO and Instagram’s co-founder all have one thing in common, they were all Product Managers. This role is essential, but requires a huge breadth of skills and knowledge, that includes a deep understanding of 1) the industry, 2) the customer, 3) the data and 4) the Fintech business. In the words of Deep Nishar, former VP of Product at Linkedin: “A great product manager has the brain of an engineer, the heart of a designer, and the speech of a diplomat.”

In Silicon Valley, product managers are sometimes referred to as “mini-CEOs”.  Although it might be an overstatement, there is actually some truth to it. Consider that in 25 major Fintech companies, half of them have a Chief Product Officer who was previously co-founder or CEO of a startup! That says a lot about the massive breadth of skills required to be PM, and this programme has been designed to acquire a maximum of those skills in the most efficient way possible” said CFTE’s co-founder Huy Nguyen Trieu.

Despite that, Product Management is not taught at universities, and there are very few training programmes available to professionals as of now.

CFTE’s programme aims to bridge the industry’s current knowledge gaps, and equip professionals with the skills of Product Management in Fintech. It is open to individuals of all ages and levels, from new graduates to senior level employees.

For all those in a Fintech startup, a modern bank or a tech company, changes are happening faster than ever. For those who want to be part of these changes, learning the skills used in the most innovative tech companies will help them have an edge and be better prepared. And how best to learn than from Rahul Dua, an experienced PM who learnt from the best at Amazon and Paypal ?” added Tram Anh, CFTE co-founder.

The programme is led by Rahul Dua, Senior Product Manager at Amazon and ex-Paypal. Rahul is a lifelong learner, with hands-on experience of building and launching successful Payment Acceptance, Payment Experience, and Money Movement Products and Features. His main focus and passion is always exploring innovations and emerging technologies in the field, with his recent interest focused on Web3, DeFi and Crypto space.

“Product Manager really is a unique role, which requires a broad set of skills and hands-on experience. That is why I am excited about this program, where it has a blended approach to learning Product Management along with Fintech domain knowledge. The real world examples and an end-to-end project will give participants the opportunity to hone their product skills and learn from each other.” said Rahul Dua, Programme Manager of the Fintech Product Manager programme.

In this 8-week, blended and part-time programme, participants will learn the frameworks, tools and work methodologies of leading Tech and Fintech companies and apply them in projects, while receiving feedback from successful product managers from the space. Live sessions with industry experts will be held weekly, to provide learners with an interactive learning experience.

Throughout the programme, participants will:

  • Learn Product Theory
  • Gain Fintech Industry Knowledge
  • Apply learning in Practical Workshops
  • Work on a Project Work in Fintech

Focusing on applied learning, the programme will allow participants to experience product management, and help them foster the mindset needed to accelerate, kickstart their career in Fintech.

This live programme isn’t a first for CFTE. The educational platform previoulsy launched the unique “Extrapreneurship ” programme that allows professionals to experience the work environment & methodologies of high-growth Tech companies, by working to solve real-world problem statements provided by some of the world’s fastest growing Fintech and technology companies. The most recent cohort having worked with Uber, and previously with Revolut, Neat, Shift and Onfido.

Applications for the Fintech Product Manager programme opened on the 30th of May 2022, priced at the regular price of £2,999. The first 30 seats benefit from half-price, and CFTE alumni also benefit from preferential prices as usual.
