CFTE today announced the launch of its Senior Leadership Alignment Programme for financial institutions and central banks. The programme is designed to help senior leadership teams translate AI ambition into clear strategic decisions, aligned priorities, and effective execution.

In today’s rapidly shifting world of work, a simple but urgent question is rising to the surface:

What does it really mean to be AI-ready — and who’s leading the way?

This was the core focus of an executive session hosted by CFTE in collaboration with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). Held behind closed doors in the heart of Manama, the gathering brought together 50+ senior leaders from Bahrain’s financial ecosystem for a bold, honest discussion on AI transformation, not as a technology trend, but as a leadership imperative.

Rather than offering a checklist of tools, the session explored something deeper: what it takes for organisations to rewire how they think about talent, performance, and long-term resilience in an AI-powered economy.

From Tools to Talent: Rethinking the AI Conversation

The session was led by Huy Nguyen Trieu, CFTE co-founder and author of The Great Transition: The Future of Work in the Age of AI. His message was clear:

Next came the CDE Innovation Prism, a strategic model for understanding how AI is transforming jobs and systems:

Enhancing – Amplifying human creativity and decision-making

Most organisations are experiencing all three patterns at once. The key is knowing where your workforce sits on this spectrum — and what that means for future roles.

The takeaway? AI readiness isn’t a single metric. It’s a multi-dimensional map. And forward-looking leaders need to understand where they -and their people- stand today.

Beyond Upskilling: This Is a Cultural Shift

While many conversations around AI readiness focus on upskilling, the Bahrain session surfaced a more profound insight:

It’s not just about learning new tools. It’s about learning to lead in complexity.

Becoming AI-ready means rethinking:

What “good” performance looks like
How teams operate across silos
What kind of thinking drives value in dynamic environments

The leaders in the room agreed: AI can supercharge performance — but only if your people are already switched on.

In May 2025, CFTE had the privilege of co-hosting a strategic session on AI and financial systems during the Annual Meeting of the Arab Monetary Fund’s Fintech Working Group.

This wasn’t just another AI panel.

It was a rare opportunity to step into a conversation with the region’s regulators, central banks, and policy designers — the very people shaping the rules of tomorrow’s financial infrastructure.

Rather than showcasing tools or predicting distant futures, we focused on what matters most today:

How do institutions build real AI readiness when transformation is already underway?

From Innovation Buzzwords to Institutional Blueprints

Too often, AI is discussed in technical silos or executive summaries. This session brought it into the space where it matters most: regulatory strategy and national capacity building.

Here’s why it stood out:

A shift from features to frameworks

We moved beyond tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to ask bigger questions:

How do supervisors stay relevant when business models evolve overnight?
What defines “AI literacy” at the institutional level?
How do central banks upskill their talent to regulate what they don’t build?

A focus on capability, not just compliance

The discussion wasn’t reactive. It was design-oriented. We weren’t just warning about risks — we were co-creating models for readiness.

What Emerged: Three Core Insights for AI-Ready Institutions

Many institutions are investing in AI technologies. Fewer are investing in the human and strategic capabilities to use them responsibly.

AI-readiness, as discussed by the Fintech Working Group, must be built around:

– Strategic understanding, not just awareness

– Ethical fluency and governance competence

– Systemic thinking across departments and use cases

Readiness, in this context, means being able to ask the right questions and design the right guardrails, not just operate the tools.

2. Talent Will Be Amplified — Not Replaced

We introduced CFTE’s Performance Hexagon, which resonated deeply:

The insight was clear:

The group consensus? AI-readiness isn’t a workshop — it’s a journey. And that journey must be guided by policy-aligned, institution-specific frameworks.

What Regulators Are Asking — And Why It Signals Readiness

During the session, several pressing questions emerged:

– How can we regulate models we don’t fully understand?

– How do we prepare our supervisors for exponential innovation cycles?

– Can AI be a force for financial inclusion, rather than complexity?

These are the kinds of questions that define real institutional maturity.

They don’t signal hesitation. They signal leadership.

GPT-4.5 Passes the Turing Test – And Outsmarts Humans

Last week, artificial intelligence hit a major milestone.

For the first time ever, a large language model officially passed the three-party Turing test – and did so more convincingly than actual humans. According to a new study by UC San Diego, GPT-4.5 was judged to be human 73% of the time when tested, outperforming even real human participants.

Let’s unpack what this means and why it matters.

What Is the Three-Party Turing Test?

The Turing test, originally proposed by Alan Turing, is a benchmark to assess whether a machine can mimic human behaviour. In the three-party version of the test, a participant chats with both an AI and a real human—but without knowing who’s who. After five minutes, they must decide which is the human.

If the AI is chosen as the human more often than not, it passes the test.

Key Findings from the Study

Here’s what the UC San Diego researchers discovered:

GPT-4.5 was perceived as human 73% of the time. When prompted to act like a person, it not only passed the test—it outperformed human participants.
Other models showed varied results. LLaMa-3.1-405B scored 56%, while older models like ELIZA and GPT-4o only reached 23% and 21% respectively.
Clear instructions mattered. AIs that were specifically told to “act human” performed significantly better, highlighting the value of precise prompt design.
Emotional intelligence played a key role. Rather than focusing solely on factual correctness, people evaluated human-likeness based on conversational flow and personality.
Imperfections increased believability. AIs that showed doubt or made subtle errors were often seen as more convincingly human.

CFTE to Discontinue Courses for Humans, Pivot to Training Machines and Robots

For Immediate Release – 1 April 2025 – London, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Paris – In a move that’s causing existential anxiety across the global workforce — and quiet celebration in server farms worldwide — the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) has announced that it will no longer offer training programmes for humans. Instead, it will fully redirect its efforts to educating machines, robots, and autonomous systems.

The decision, effective 1 April 2025, follows a growing trend in AI-driven education. According to the World Economic Forum, over 60% of professionals now use AI tools to complete daily tasks — and unofficially, many allow those tools to do all the work. A recent CFTE survey revealed that over 80% of learners rely on ChatGPT to complete exercises, write assessments, and explain lecture content.

“At some point we realised… our actual students aren’t the humans behind the screen — they’re the LLMs they’re chatting with,” said Huy Nguyen Trieu, Co-Founder of CFTE. “So we decided to skip the intermediary and go directly to the source.”

From Pioneers of AI Education… to AI’s Educators

CFTE has long positioned itself at the cutting edge of professional education. In 2018, it launched the world’s first AI in Finance certification, years before ChatGPT became a household name and most companies knew what fine-tuning meant.

In 2021, CFTE cloned its lead instructor (with consent) using voice synthesis, AI-generated video, and a relentless, coffee-fuelled API stack. The clone now has tenure.

And in 2022, it became the first professional institution to close physical offices and move entirely into the Metaverse — a move that baffled some, but now feels oddly prescient.

“Innovation has always been in our DNA,” said Tram Anh Nguyen, Co-Founder of CFTE. “When we saw our learners increasingly letting their AI agents do the learning, we asked ourselves — why not build programmes for the real performers?”

Machines Are the New Learners

The rationale behind CFTE’s pivot is as strategic as it is satirical:

Machines learn faster
They never ask for deadline extensions
They don’t need motivational quotes on Mondays
They’ve never once requested a certificate for LinkedIn

CFTE’s new student base will consist of LLMs, smart home devices, autonomous vehicles, and enterprise AI agents, all enrolled through a dedicated API portal. A rigorous admissions policy ensures no model below GPT-3.5 is accepted.

“Our mission has always been education at scale,” said Huy Nguyen Trieu. “And what scales faster than humans? Machines do. They learn in milliseconds, don’t take coffee breaks, and never forget their login credentials. It’s everything we dreamed of as educators.”

What About the Humans?

CFTE is quick to reassure the public that humans will still have a role — albeit a slightly redefined one.

“People are still essential — for now,” said Tram Anh Nguyen. “Machines may master logic, pattern recognition, and market analysis, but only humans can teach them how to smile awkwardly on Zoom, or how to ignore a meeting invite for three days.”

Human instructors will be retained to train machines in the more nuanced areas of professional development, such as:

Irrational behaviour
Microaggressions
Cross-cultural miscommunication
Small talk at networking events
