CFTE: What motivated you to learn about Open Banking and Platforms? Were there any specific insights from your professional or personal experiences that prompted you to explore this topic?
Jason: The financial sector is one of the first traditional sectors to go through this radical digital transformation. As a techie it got me wondering what are the key factors that contributed to this transition. Banking industry used to be very secure and secretive about customers’ information however the concept of Open Banking and Platforms is just completely the opposite. I need to know what contributed to this paradigm shift. This is the beginning as it will affect all other industries once it is done with banking. All trades and services evolved around finance and banking. I just feel that I need to be part of this big evolution.
CFTE: What were the main takeaways for you? Have you been able to implement any of these learnings?
Jason: This is a very exciting time where technology with innovation allows banks and fintechs to create value for end users where it wasn’t possible previously. This opens up my horizon and I will definitely be looking into ways to make use of APIs for my future projects.
CFTE: And finally, if you had to describe yourself in 3 words or less, what would they be?
Jason: Humble. Learner.
