Sammy Otieno Omolo, Claims Analyst

CFTE: Why did you choose CFTE?

Sammy: Based on the research I have done, CFTE is at the verge of globalising its Fintech products and services. I learned about the current trends through the Fintech 360 course, most notably the lessons on Artificial Intelligence and Open Banking have been very eye-opening. This is exactly the kind of knowledge I was looking for where my career interests, experience and skills can be put to use through intensive innovations.

CFTE: What motivated you to learn about Fintech?

Sammy: My biggest motivation was the desire to manipulate the existing actuarial data sets and transform them into advancing technology. CFTE gave me an opportunity through experiences such as the FinTech 360 course or the Global Fintech Internship to advance my career expertise in the financial industry and learn about the applications of AI and open banking. Overall, what struck me the most was the importance of a more customer centric approach in financial services.

CFTE: What did you enjoy the most about the course and what were the key takeaways for you?

Sammy: One of the key interests I developed was AI, its applications and open banking. Due to the Fintech revolution, it’s evident that AI has contributed majorly in digital transformation of finance such as; creation of predictive models in financial institutions that improve reliability in risk assessments, fraud detection, and virtual financial assistants (i.e. chat bots) program. Through these business models, credit analyses can be performed with ease in open banking via APIs, enabling expansion of Fintech startups’ international footprint with an aim of improving effortless cross-border transactions.

CFTE: Finally, describe yourself in 3 words or less!

Sammy: Innovative. Enthusiastic. Proactive.
