Valerie was a capital markets lawyer and now an investment and corporate banker with specific emphasis in debt capital markets. With the transformation of the banking industry, she also works closely with fintech companies that provide bespoke payment solutions.
CFTE: As somebody who has been heavily involved in the banking and finance industry, what motivated you to learn about Open Banking and Platforms?
Valerie: The banking industry is evolving and inevitably, the speed at which the banking industry has accelerated that required me to step up and embrace holistic transformation to take massive action to embrace and adopt it. As a banker, I cannot afford to standstill, become a bystander and irrelevant to the future of banking.
CFTE: What were the main takeaways for you? Have you implemented the skills and knowledge acquired through the courses?
Valerie: Open banking demands a fundamental rethink of the traditional banking business model, enabling banking to become more customer centric. The exchange of customer data looks set to level the playing field between incumbents and new entrants, increasing competitions. More importantly, opening banking will facilitate the creation of new products and services that were previously impossible to imagine but now the possibilities are innumerable.
