London 9th June 2022 – CFTE has announced the release of its Fintech Product Manager course, the first ever of its kind. With the aim of tackling the lack of education for this complex role, this programme will be taught by Amazon’s Senior Product Manager Rahul Dua. Amidst the huge demand for the role, through this unique and experiential programme, participants will develop the skills, mindset, and network to succeed in Fintech and modern finance.

Whether in Fintech, tech companies or modern banks, Product Manager is one of the most important roles of fast growing organisations, with some even calling it the “mini-CEO”. Google’s CEO, Youtube’s CEO and Instagram’s co-founder all have one thing in common, they were all Product Managers. This role is essential, but requires a huge breadth of skills and knowledge, that includes a deep understanding of 1) the industry, 2) the customer, 3) the data and 4) the Fintech business. In the words of Deep Nishar, former VP of Product at Linkedin: “A great product manager has the brain of an engineer, the heart of a designer, and the speech of a diplomat.”

“In Silicon Valley, product managers are sometimes referred to as “mini-CEOs”.  Although it might be an overstatement, there is actually some truth to it. Consider that in 25 major Fintech companies, half of them have a Chief Product Officer who was previously co-founder or CEO of a startup! That says a lot about the massive breadth of skills required to be PM, and this programme has been designed to acquire a maximum of those skills in the most efficient way possible” said CFTE’s co-founder Huy Nguyen Trieu.

Despite that, Product Management is not taught at universities, and there are very few training programmes available to professionals as of now.

CFTE’s programme aims to bridge the industry’s current knowledge gaps, and equip professionals with the skills of Product Management in Fintech. It is open to individuals of all ages and levels, from new graduates to senior level employees.

London, 29th May 2022 – Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) is delighted to announce that it has been appointed to be the training partner of Hong Kong Cyberport’s FinTech Training programme for the International Speaker Series. 2022 Financial Practitioners FinTech Training Programme is the Treasury Bureau’s (FSTB) conscious effort to nurture fintech talents in the region and accelerate the digital transformation of the financial services sector by aiming to train more than 7,000 financial practitioners across 50 firms on the latest Fintech developments.

CFTE will support the upskilling initiative by conducting the programme in the form of a Webinars Series that will provide training covering a wide range of topics, such as Regtech, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, as well as Environmental, Social and Governance. Full subsidy to applicants will be offered to participants who successfully complete the course in an effort to nurture fintech talents in Hong Kong.

London, Nice,  5th May 2022 – The Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) is delighted to continue its partnership with EDHEC Business School to train Masters students in Entrepreneurial Finance for the 3rd consecutive year, and is looking forward to continued partnership with EDHEC Business School. With the new cohort of 300 students onboarded, CFTE will have trained over 1000 students in Financial Technology over the last 3 years.

The Centre for Finance, Trade and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) and EDHEC Business School continue their collaboration to co-develop the Fintech and Entrepreneurial Finance module in 2022, within the Master in Management with Financial specialisation degree, which was launched in January 2020. The launch followed a successful collaboration on the Hybrid Fintech Specialisation programme in the 1st quarter of 2019. EDHEC Business School, based in France, is ranked among the top 10 European Business Schools and its Masters in Finance programme is ranked among the top 5 business schools worldwide, by the Financial Times. 

The Fintech and Entrepreneurial Finance module constitutes a core module that allows over 300 master students every year to learn about Fintech, while also getting them to work on entrepreneurial finance projects and business case studies from fast-growing startups in the industry. This exposes students to the main industry trends and technological changes happening in finance as well as help them learn about the main players driving the growth of the ecosystem. Additionally, this unique mix of learning content helps students develop their problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills that they can take forward into their careers as business leaders. 

Fintech is a rapidly growing industry. The industry has 40,000 new job openings nearly every quarter and has also received $132 Billion in funding in 2021, making it on of the largest areas of VC investments and creating more opportunities for growth. Emerging fintech business models challenge the current financial legacy systems with blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) being among the most disruptive and fastest-growing technologies that affect the industry. Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic the fintech market has continued to help expand access to financial services, depicting the sector’s resiliency and appropriateness for a modern digital landscape. The course aims to prepare students for this new landscape and teach them how to leverage the opportunities of emerging technologies. 

The course launch followed a successful collaboration of EDHEC and CFTE on the Hybrid Fintech Specialisation programme in Q1 2019. Initially offered as an elective, the course enrolled 80 master students and was oversubscribed in just 72 hours with a satisfaction rate of 97%. 

“For content such as Fintech, that has been developing extremely rapidly, it is necessary to benefit from the most up-to-date expertise. This is what we found with CFTE, and that allowed us to co-design a fruitful learning experience for students” says Laurent Deville, Academic Director of the Masters in Finance at EDHEC Business School.

CFTE is very excited to continue the collaboration with EDHEC and is looking forward to the rollout of the programme in 2022. The event was co-organised and moderated by CFTE, the Centre for Finance, Technology & Entrepreneurship, an online education platform for digital finance which recently launched in France with the support of Business France; and supported by two sponsors ORWL Avocats, a French law firm specialised in innovation, and Nord France Invest, the regional development agency of the Hauts-de-France region.

What is an Intrapreneur?

From the Post-It note to the Sony PlayStation – these legendary products have all been the brainchild of inventive employees who were bursting with entrepreneurial energy and who’s organisations embraced intrapreneurial culture. This essentially forms the crux of what an intrapreneur is. 

To define the concept, an intrapreneur is an employee who is delegated an innovative project or comes up with a new idea independently to work on, within the safe realm of their existing organisation. This immediately takes away the risk that would otherwise be creeping up behind a traditional entrepreneur striving to reach the heights of success. But this does not come without a price. With lower risks as a benefit, intrapreneurs trade-off the outsized rewards that an entrepreneur may have the opportunity to reap.

While intrapreneurship gives ambitious employees the latitude to spread their wings and fly, it does so within the terms of the organisation, yielding the benefits of innovation and creativity within the company. All-in-all inculcating intrapreneurship into corporate culture creates a win-win situation for employees and the company that hosts them as well.

What is an Entrepreneur?

On the contrary, an entrepreneur can be defined as an individual striving to satisfy his itch for creativity and innovation by starting a new venture. This is achieved by developing a business plan and aiming to kick it off with relatively limited resources. The entrepreneur does so while harbouring higher risks (like his/her financial security, career or capital), but also gaining higher rewards that come along with building an enterprise. The new business is founded on the basis of a unique product or service that doesn’t imitate an existing business model.

While entrepreneurship can be seen as risky, it gives entrepreneurs the autonomy to build what they believe in while also factoring in greater rewards that could significantly multiply profitability.

Examples of some successful entrepreneurs are:

• Whitney Wolfe, the founder of Bumble, a dating app created for women by women.
• Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, the builders of the social media giant Instagram.

What are the Similarities between Intrapreneurs and Entrepreneurs?

London, 14 February 2021 – The Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) is delighted to continue its partnership with EDHEC Business School to train Masters students in Entrepreneurial Finance and is looking forward to launching the programme in 2021.

The Centre for Finance, Trade and Entrepreneurship (CFTE) and EDHEC Business School continue their collaboration to co-develop the Fintech and Entrepreneurial Finance module in 2021, within the Master in Financial Economics degree, which was launched in January 2020. The launch followed a successful collaboration on the Hybrid Fintech Specialisation programme in the 1st quarter of 2019. EDHEC Business School, based in France, is ranked among the top 5 business schools for its Masters in Finance programme worldwide.

The Fintech and Entrepreneurial Finance module will constitute a core module that will allow over 300 students to learn about Fintech, while also getting them to work on entrepreneurial finance projects and business case studies from the industry. This will expose students to the main industry trends and technological changes happening in finance as well as help them learn about the main players driving the growth of the ecosystem. Additionally, this unique mix of learning content will help students develop their problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills that they can take forward into their careers as business leaders.

Fintech is a rapidly growing industry with an expected CAGR of the global fintech market set at 23.58% from 2021 to 2025. Emerging fintech business models challenge the current financial legacy systems with blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) being among the most disruptive and fastest-growing technologies that affect the industry. Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic the fintech market has continued to help expand access to financial services, depicting the sector’s resiliency and appropriateness for a modern digital landscape. The course aims to prepare students for this new landscape and teach them how to exploit the opportunities of emerging technologies.

The course launch followed a successful collaboration of EDHEC and CFTE on the Hybrid Fintech Specialisation programme in Q1 2019. The course enrolled 80 master students and was oversubscribed in just 72 hours with a satisfaction rate of 97%. Adam Lasry, a course alumnus says:
